Sienna X & Celebrity Bronze spray tanning solution are incredibly safe and approved products but sometimes, as a precaution, a patch test will be recommended, 24 hours before your appointment, if any of the following points apply to you

- You have never had a spray tan before
- You have sensitive skin
- You have had a reaction from self tanning products in the past

Preparation
Clients should exfoliate thoroughly with a quality exfoliating body scrub, for best results we
recommend our Sienna X Exfoliating Body Scrub. This should be done, either, the day before or on the day of your appointment to remove dead and dry skin cells. Pay particular attention to dry areas such as elbows, knees and feet. Do not moisturise on the day of the tan or use any deodorants or perfumes as these will act as a barrier and/or react with the tanning solution. Shaving and waxing should be done the day before your appointment to give your pores time to close. All make-up must be removed if the face is to be tanned.

Clothing
Clients are welcome to be sprayed naked, bring their own bikinis or underwear or use any of our free disposable bras, G-stings and hair caps. For partial body tanning, clothing should be worn that gives access to the areas that need to be tanned. Although the tanning solution should wash out please be aware that the
tanning solution may be difficult to remove from some materials, especially wool and synthetics. During and after the treatment, please wear either dark clothing that will not show any staining or clothing that you do not mind being stained.

Leaving The Salon
Clients are advised to wear dark, loose fitting clothing when leaving the salon. Please remember traces of the tanning solution can be transferred onto clothing, bed sheets and soft furnishings (including leather and suede) until you have taken your first shower, after at least 6 hours, when your tan has developed.

Tan Development
The tanning solution takes 8 hours to develop fully. Do not bathe, shower, swim or
partake in any vigorous exercise for at least 8 hours after receiving your spray tan. Perspiration may adversely affect the results of your tan. Small amounts of colour will be washed off during bathing but this is just the bronzer and access product but it should not spoil the developed tan.

Maintaining Your Tan
With regular moisturising, for best results using our Sienna X Tan Extender Moisturiser, your spray tan will last for around 7 days depending on skin type, skin care and bathing routine. When bathing and drying be careful not to scrub the skin, wash gently and pat dry with a towel. Chlorine in swimming pools will dramatically reduce the longevity of the tan. Waxing and
shaving will remove skin cells and affect you spray tan.

Please Note:
It's very important to be aware that spray tanning offers no protection from the sun, but can be used in conjunction with normal sunbathing provided sun protection is used at all times.
Although it looks like you have a tan remember this tan is fake and that you can burn.
Always apply sunscreen!

What is DHA?

Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is the main active ingredient in all sunless tanning preparations. It has no known toxicity and has been approved for cosmetic use worldwide. It may be used alone or combined with other tanning components such as erythrulose. DHA is considered the most effective sun-free tanning additive. History lesson - DHA (naturally derived from sugar cane) used to be given to children who suffered from a rare condition where they couldn't naturally produce glucose in their own bodies. The children were spoon fed the sugar derivative which was sometimes spilled onto the skin. Healthcare workers noticed that the skin turned brown after a few hours. Thus the tanning effects of DHA were discovered!!

What sort of tan will I get?

Our spray tan will temporarily make your skin a lovely golden brown. The chemical reaction physically changes your skin colour. Our solution has been well-tested in order to ensure that
it looks exactly like a natural tan. Even fair-skinned clients who don't tan easily will benefit from an 8% solution of tanning.

Does our spray tan solution contain an instant bronzer or guide colour?

Yes, our solution does contain a bronzer which makes it easy to apply and gives you an instant tanned look the moment you have been sprayed, perfect for those last minute events. The guide colour is then easily washed off to reveal a lovely tan.

Will it damage my clothes?

You should be aware that DHA can stain silk, nylon and leather clothing. Any clothes put on after the application should also be dark, cotton based and loosely fitted so they will not rub your tan. Any colour that rubs off can usually be washed out in a normal wash cycle. Try to avoid putting on closed shoes and socks as they will cause your feet to sweat and also grind down your tan as you walk.

How long will my spray tan last?

A spray tan can last up to 10 days if maintained properly, with Tan Extender. If no tan extender is used, it will usually last 5 - 7 days.
